Sub Zero, Batman & Other WTF Crossover's

Photobucket

What you are currently staring at, in disbelief and confusion, is artwork that was released earlier in the week which has confirmed a new Mortal Kombat game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Most importantly it confirms that due to the fact Mortal Kombat staff ran out of new characters to beef up the games, they have ordered in some help...and by God, none of us were expecting DC to answer the call!

So far the characters confirmed by Midway are; Sub Zero and Scorpion on the side of MK (Big suprise there...) and for team DC we have thier trademarked poster boys, Batman and Superman (Again, its a shocker). Another startling fact about this latest bout is, according to several sources, Ed Boon stated that the game would have no fatalities. Your kidding me, right? Mortal Kombat is not Mortal Kombat without fatalities!

Now, Mortal Kombat is not the first game to have these weird and wonderful cross overs, oh no.

Solid Snake

Photobucket

Snake seems to love to hide in boxes and now and again save the world. But he also has a nack of appearing in some games of games that make you say "..Come again?". He tends to pop up in alot of mascot themed games and rightley so, Snake is one of the best known gaming mascots around! His biggest and most notible cameo was likely Smash Bros. Brawl.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic is a spikey blue fellow who has major hyperactive problems. Segas mascot and fan favorite has been around since 1991, and was my hero when I was growing up. Sonics 2D games were classics which touched a generation. When he finaly broke into 3D however, it didn't go over as well. Sonic and Nintendos Mario have always been rivals in the hearts of every 90's kid, many playround arguement was raged over them, and in 2008 they finaly had a chance to duke it out in Smash Bros. Brawl.

Cameo-logy

Star Wars Characters

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Cameos appeared in many things that made us go "What the..thats so awesome!".

Nice little post.

I hope the MK vs DC game surprises everyone and turns out to be good. The DC universe NEEDS a good game. Batman has some of the best comic runs and graphic novels in the whole of comics, but hasn't had a good game for a long while. (and also I've not been interested in any MK games since MK3)

In terms of great crossover / cameo games, I love the Marvel / Capcom games. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is pure brilliance. I have the Dreamcast version and it's simply one of the best 2D fighters out there, and also has a compelling and varied roster. It also beat DC, Star Wars and even Nintendo to the 'fighter crossover' concept, with X-men vs Street Fighter coming out in 1996!

Yeah I have that for the DreamCast too actually, it was freakin' sweet (Man I love that console..SHENMUE 3 PLS!!).

I would love for the game to be great, I'm a huge Batman fan, but I just hope they don't throw all of MK's rules out of the window...lets not forget who's cmoning into who's game after all!

Batmans not the worring part anyway, its Superman with THE worst game track record...Superman 64 anyone?
